Today we traveled to Regina Angelorum Academy to cheer on our school's declamation contest participants. Third grade's own Brickston Vinal represented Regina Academy at St. John the Baptist in the third and fourth grade division. He did an amazing job!
What an exciting day! We went on our first field trip of the year with our fourth grade buddies. The first stop on our trip was the Mercer Museum in Doylestown, PA. Here, we learned about the civil war during a hands-on classroom presentation AND we learned so much about colonial America by exploring the museum's large collection of early American artifacts. After a delicious lunch at Dairy Queen, we headed to our second destination. Fonthill Castle was the personal home of Mercer Museum founder, Henry Mercer. Although we were unable to take pictures inside his residence, we saw some amazing architectural works throughout his abode!
We had an awesome Catholic Schools Week! Third grade students enjoyed daily "Minute to Win It" activities, a visit from a local author, a special small-group composition class, and our school-wide catholic schools week service project that raised money and collected donations for infants and young children in need.
Today's science lab introduced students to different ways through which matter can be altered: physical changes, chemical changes, and mixtures.
Every Thursday is partner reading day. Students read our weekly story in pairs to improve oral reading fluency. Once each group is finished reading, students then work together to complete a reading comprehension or weekly skill reinforcement activity. Ask your child about Tops and Bottoms by Janet Stevens. What was her purpose for writing this story?
